Setting Entry Slugs & URLs

Summary:

Control the URL for each entry to make it clear, SEO-friendly, and easy to share.

What Is a Slug?

slug is the part of the URL that comes after the domain name, e.g. in:

www.example.com/news/club-update

club-update is the slug.

How to Edit a Slug

  1. Open the entry.
  2. In the Settings panel (right side), locate the Slug field.
  3. Enter your desired slug (use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only).
  4. TIP - you can delete the slug and upon save the CMS will automatically generate a new one based on the page title
  5. Click Save.

Best Practices

  • Keep it short and descriptive.
  • Use hyphens to separate words, not underscores.
  • Avoid changing slugs for live content unless necessary (changing a slug changes the URL).
